Sirois Tool Earns AS9100D Certification
Sirois Tool’s quality management system has just been certified by TUV USA to AS 9100D. This supplements the company’s existing ISO 9001:2015 certification and is very good news for its current and future aerospace customers.
To explain, AS9100D is the aerospace industry’s quality management standard. It incorporates the most current version of the ISO 9001 quality standard (used by most industries) in its entirety and adds additional safety requirements established by the aerospace industry to satisfy the Department of Defense (DOD), National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), and the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) quality requirements.
Design, development, planning, production, and service requirements that are not part of ISO 9001 are included in AS9100D. AS9100D adds risk identification and assessment protocols and delves deeper into how an organization must address non-conformances and implement corrective actions.
Since many global aerospace manufacturers will only use AS9100D certified suppliers, this certification gives Sirois Tool the potential to increase its aerospace customer base and expand upon the services they offer.
“We’ve always had an outstanding quality management system”, Sirois Tool CEO Alan Ortner said, “but this new certification means we have confirmation of it from an esteemed, accredited third party. We’re eager to let aerospace manufacturers know we’re now AS9100D certified.”
In addition to its ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100D certifications, Sirois Tool holds an International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) registration, which means the company is recognized by the U.S. government as capable of supporting all military and homeland security products while safeguarding information and technologies that affect our national security.
