Sirois Tool has added another Supertec CNC grinder to its multitude of machine tools.
The company recently took delivery of a new Supertec G50A-100 Ø20″ x 33″ Angle Head CNC OD Grinder, and the shop floor is already reaping the benefits.

“This new grinder increases our CNC grinding capacity and is a great addition to our existing lineup,” Sirois Tool President and CEO Alan Ortner said.

The G50A-100 has a 33-inch max grinding length and can grind diameters up to 19 inches. It’s equipped with a user-friendly Fanuc 0iTF controller.

The new machine is the second Supertec CNC grinder Sirois Tool has purchased in just over 24 months.

In 2023, the company added a Supertec EGM-350 Dual Spindle CNC ID Grinder. The purchase was a welcome supplement to the CNC grinders already in use, which include a Jones & Shipman Ultramat Easy CNC OD Grinder and an Okamoto IGM15NC111 CNC ID Grinder.

Sirois Tool has 32 Cylindrical Grinders in its facility today, and all but these four are manually operated.

“While we still specialize in precision manual OD and ID grinding on our Brown & Sharpe #13s and other manual grinders, adding more CNC grinding capacity increases our capabilities and productivity to better serve all of our customers,” Ortner explained.

The new G50A-100 model weighs approximately 13,000 lbs. and is designed with a ribbed, box-type base made of Meehanite casting, which provides superior rigidity and stability.

“We’re constantly evaluating our machining capabilities,” Ortner said. “We never stop looking for ways to improve efficiency and provide more value to our customers. This new Supertec does both.”
