Signing Day Highlights Student’s Commitment to Technical Trade

In May, we participated in SkillsUSA’s National Signing Day with our apprentice, Chloe, who recently completed the Precision Machining Trade Program at H.C. Wilcox Technical High School.

National Signing Day recognizes students like Chloe who have secured job offers, apprenticeships, or other pathways toward advancing their technical training. They sign “letters of intent” as a symbolic representation of their commitment to their chosen career path.

The Wilcox Tech program provides instruction on machine safety, measuring tools, and precision machining fundamentals using manual milling machines, lathes, and other metal processing machines. As students’ skills advance, they begin using computer numerical controlled (CNC) machining and turning centers. Upon graduation, they receive 1500 hours toward a metal trade apprenticeship.

As Wilcox Tech’s only female pre-apprentice in the Precision Machining Trade Program, Chloe also received donated tools from Harbor Freight.

Chloe’s father and Henry, her Sirois Tool mentor, attended the ceremony. Sirois Tool employees also attended to support her.

Chloe’s letter of intent signifies that she intends to complete her apprenticeship at Sirois Tool, and we couldn’t be more pleased. If history is any indication, she’s likely to stay with us long after completing her apprenticeship, just as most of our previous apprentices have.

We’re honored to mentor students like Chloe and help them grow their careers. It’s an investment that has always netted an excellent return – for us and our students.
